Finnish duo Morphology follow up their 2014 release on CPU with this stunning record. Tracks like ‘Jovian Moons’ and the title track will plunge those doubters who thought that electro was for bedrooms and not dancefloors into a dystopia where oppressive, ass-quaking bass and militaristic hi-hats prevail. ‘Molecular Hydrogen’ offers a nod at musicality, but its ice cool synths are surrounded by relentless snare drums. Only closing track ‘New Horizons’ offers some respite from Morphology’s singular approach, but even here the mood is as eerie and frosty as sunrise at the North Pole.
