Temporary Insanity

When Terrence Dixon relaunched his Population One side-project a few years ago, it was clear that he was bringing a new vision to it. Gone are the primal, tribal techno grooves of the past, supplanted by a new, more sophisticated approach. On the title track of this release, Dixon centres his driving percussive arrangement around a surging, supernaturally powerful double bass. ‘Multiple Choice’ on the flip is less forceful but equally hypnotic, with the Detroit producer’s cold, pointillist riffs unfolding over a moody, flickering bass.
