This project was primarily a live act, but thankfully Hetzel and Sierra Sam have transferred it to a vinyl release. Inspired by classic techno and electro tropes, ‘Tribute’ may wear its influences openly, but it is never derivative. ‘Beaubien’ rides a warbling Detroit bass and tight electro drums before synths explode in technicolor. 'Hoover', meanwhile, is like a halfway house for Ben Sims loopisms and Kevin Saunderson bass pressure and the title track sees the pair ride the late '90s tribal techno train to an acid-soaked finale. It’s wonderfully unpretentious stuff — hopefully some of the miserable techno crew can listen and learn.
