‘RAVING IRAN’ DOCUMENTS TEHRAN’S DANGEROUS UNDERGROUND TECHNO SCENE

A new documentary about two techno producers in Tehran’s underground techno scene is set to be toured internationally at a number of film festivals. Watch the new trailer for it below.
Western music is banned on state-run radio and TV under the Iranian regime, and ‘Raving Iran’ portrays the struggles and dangers that DJs and producers face there.
Directed by Swiss filmmaker Susanne Regina Meures, the film portrays Iranian DJs Anoosh and Arash who, the synopsis says, “tired of hiding from the police and their stagnating career, organize one last manic techno rave under dangerous circumstances in the desert,” risking arrest, jail and potentially worse.
The film will be screened at Hot Docs in Toronto, DOK.fest in Munich, Bel Docs in Belgrade, and the Iranian Film Festival in Zurich.
Currently no cinematic release has been set.
