A record breaking number of wax...

16.8 million vinyl records were sold in the United States last year.

Doubling up as a record annual high for annual vinyl sales for a 13th consecutive year, it also marks a 14.6% increase on 2017. Despite a 17.7% sale on physical album sales generally, vinyl accounted for 11.9% of album sales during 2018.

The news comes after it was revealed that 4.2 million vinyl records were sold in the UK during the same period.

Budget manufacturer Crosley recently announced that they are making a new 3-inch mini turntable available for Record Store Day 2019.
