3 ALTERNATIVE EUROPEAN SUMMER CLUBBING LOCATIONS

 With Miller Genuine Draft

We love Ibiza! So much so, in fact, that we release two magazines dedicated to the Spanish Party Island, every year! It is the No.1 global dance music destination, with seven of the world’s best clubs on one small strip of land in the Mediterranean. However, don’t think for a second it is your only choice! Check out our guide to the best European summer alternatives...

CROATIA

Often heralded as the ‘new Ibiza’, Croatia has everything you need for a summer clubbing holiday. Like Ibiza, of old, Croatia boasts beautiful outdoor clubs where you can dance until dawn. Although the costs have increased in line with its popularity, it is still comparatively inexpensive. The summer season welcomes a range of festivals and events including DJ Mag favourites: Hideout, Garden Festival and even our own DJ Mag event. The island of Pag has the biggest concentration of clubs; Papaya, Noa and Aquarius all sit together on Zrce Beach and often collaborate during festival season.

MYKONOS

For centuries, the Greek Islands have been an essential travel experience. In addition to their natural beauty, these islands also boast some incredible nightclubs. Mykonos alone is home to Paradise Club & Cavo Paradiso, which both featured in 2015’s Top 100 Clubs Poll. Cavo Paradiso sits on top of a beautiful cliff face overlooking the ocean. Paradise has an ocean view too, albeit from ground level. Throughout the summer, the World’s biggest DJs are welcomed to the island for huge events at both venues.

BULGARIA

For many years Bulgaria’s club scene centred around the capital of Sofia. The coastal regions always had great clubs, but they were largely overtaken with pop music. However, the times are changing. Over the last few years, Sunny Beach, on Bulgaria’s Black Sea Coast, has hosted some of dance music’s biggest DJs. The Solar Summer Festival, which takes place every August, is a definite highlight. The event, which is run by Yalta Club, welcomed Marco Carola and Hot Since 82 to the Cacao Beach Club in 2015. The same venue regularly book dance music acts, putting Sunny Beach well and truly on the global clubbing map!
