Aérea Negrot, the Berlin-based Venezuelan singer, dance, producer and DJ affiliated with Ellen Alien's BPitch Control label, has died.

The news was confirmed in a post by BPitch on Friday (13th October). It read: "We are beyond heartbroken over the passing last Wednesday of our treasured and brilliant Danielle, artistically known as Aérea Negrot. She was born in Venezuela and found a home in Berlin. Her light, music and beautiful uplifting voice, her one of a kind artistic approach and performance have touched every soul they have ever encountered.

"A classically-trained ballet dancer, singer, songwriter and an uncompromising DJ, there never was a stage she did not make her own. We are forever grateful to have had the honor to cross our path with such a giving and talented human and artist. We will all eternally miss you, our dearest Dani."

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Negrot — real name Danielle Gallegos — trained as a ballet dancer before a knee injury derailed her plans and she entered the music industry as a performer in 1999.

She joined Andy Butler's Hercules & Love Affair in 2008 and sang on their 2011 album, ‘Blue Songs’ before releasing her own full-length debut, 'Arabxilla', that same year on BPitch Control.

Gallegos went on to put out several other EPs on BPitch as well as forge collaborations with the likes of Matias Aguayo, Miguel Toro, System of Survival, Billie Ray Martin, Massimiliano Paggliara and others.
