Afrojack launches competition to find new artists

The Ducth artist wants to work with the next star, and is not limited to just finding one...

Afrojack has launched a remix competition in a search to find the next big producing talent.

The Dutch EDM  star has created ‘Global Remix Battle I’, in which he invites producers the world over to rework ‘Let It Rip’, a track from his latest EP ‘Press Play’.

Sponsored by PMC Speakers, the competition offers entrants the chance to win an artist's development contract with Wall Recordings, an official release of the remix, a pair of PMC result6 studio monitors, and possibly even going on tour.

If you fancy your chances, you simply have to register personal details on the competition’s website, download remix parts of the track and upload your finished product to a private Soundcloud link.

"Everyone always says they want to be a DJ or producer. This is your shot," says Afrojack, according to Billboard

"It's not like we're looking for one winner. This isn't a TV show. It's not a movie. It's real life. We're looking for talented people, so maybe we will find 10, and I tell you honestly, maybe we'll find zero, but I can't imagine finding zero.”

The competition encourages candidates to also contribute a picture, video or words to tell their story and what the remix and music means to them.

“It's not just the remix, it's also the presentation. Who are you? We're not looking for a cool remix, we're looking for the person behind the cool remix - or the cool person behind maybe a not-so-good remix.”

The competition has opened from this week and is live until 14th January 2019.

There is also the chance to win a bundle of signed Afrojack merchandise in an auction, with proceeds going to Unicef.
