Avicii awarded posthumous MTV EMA for “Best Swedish Act”
The late EDM star continues to be celebrated across the industry...
Avicii was posthumously awarded “Best Swedish Act” at last Sunday’s 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards, which were presented by Hailee Steinfeld and held in Bilboa, Spain.
It’s the latest in a show of appreciation for the late star, who rose to fame with his 2011 hit ‘Levels’ but who tragically passed away in April this year aged just 28.
In August he won best video for ‘Lonely Together’, which features Rita Ora, at the MTV Video Music Awards, which were held in New York. The same month his father collected an award from the Swedish Rockbjörnen gala in Stockholm for best Swedish song of the year for ‘Without You’.

Avicii – who was voted into No. 15 spot in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll this year – had been working with Nile Rodgers prior to his death in April and they had allegedly written an album's worth of music together.
Last month, 'Avicii: True Stories' director, Levan Tsikurishvili, teased a possible return of the documentary to streaming service Netflix.
