Avicii movie set for UK-wide screenings

Sync watches for 26th October

Avicii is the latest musical name to have a documentary made about his experiences, with the film- 'Avicii: True Stories'- set to be screened across the UK for one night only on Thursday 26th October. Audiences should prepare themselves for a bumpy ride, too.

Made by Fevan Tsikurishvili, the movie follows the Grammy-nominated producer- AKA Tim Bergling- from his humble beginnings to arena headlining and chart topping duties, before delving into his struggles with physical and mental health. The latter subject has become a major talking point in the music press over recent years as several high profile names such as Lady Gaga, Adele and Stormzy have spoken out on the wider issue.

"I wanted to do a brutally honest film about Tim as a person and not only about Avicii," explains Tsikurishvili. "Everybody knows Avicii but very few people know Tim. I think this documentary really shows Tim’s struggle and strength of character. Being a worldwide superstar artist is not as easy as it looks on Instagram."

In and amongst the reels there are appearances from a host of musical luminaries, including Nile Rogers, Chris Martin, Wyclef Jean, and David Guetta. Nationwide cinemas will be showing the highly personal work, followed by a 30-minute concert film from Avicii's final live set, recorded in Ibiza on 28th August 2016. Although notably absent from line ups the producer remains prominent in the studio, and launched a remix competition in August, giving the winners a chance to have their efforts officially released on Geffen and bag $5,000 (US$) prize money.
