Azealia Banks has issued an official apology for her racist and homophobic Zayn Malik Twitter outburst last week, after taking time to make a “more rational assessment”. The apology came in an Instagram post over the weekend, which you can read below.

Addressing the slurs in which Banks called Malik a “curry scented bitch” and “fudgepacker”, as well as turning on the ex-One Direction star’s mother, who she branded “a dirty refugee who won’t be granted asylum”, the ‘212’ rapper has (finally) admitted that she “let anger get the best of me”. She originally defended her comments before Twitter suspended her account.

In the post, which she addressed to the “world”, Banks went on to say, “Employing racial/sexual slurs/stereotypes in attempts to make fun of or degrade another person or group is entirely unacceptable and is not fair or fun for anyone.”

The apology comes after what wasn’t a great week for Banks. She was dropped as Sunday headliner of Rinse’s Born and Bred festival after her Twitter outburst and then became the subject of a Home Office investigation. On Friday she was also rumoured to have been dropped by her UK booking agency, Primary Talent International, when her name was removed from the roster on their website and a visit to her artist page showed an error message.
