Bandcamp has launched a new vinyl pressing and crowdfunding service.

The site, which recently announced that it will be opening a physical record store, announced that the service will give artists and labels a platform to raise funds for vinyl pressing directly with consumers, so the actual manufacturing process of the vinyl can be less risky. The actual cost and design of the vinyl will be left to artists and labels, while Bandcamp will control the manufacturing and shipping. You can check out an example campaign in the image below.

So far a pilot has been launched for limited records, while the service will become operational for the entire site later this year at an as-yet-unspecified date, and you can find out more about it here.
