Bassnectar’s Freakstyle parties to donate 35,000 meals for kids in Michigan

It's the latest in a series of good deeds from the bass DJ

Bassnectar will use his Freakstyle parties to provide free meals to children from Flint, Michigan.

Taking over Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan, from the 31st October to 2nd November, Bassnectar will host his Freakstyle three-night event. The event, in conjunction with the DJ's nonprofit organisation, Be Interactive, and Conscious Alliance, hopes to collect 5,000 meals for children in need at Freakstyle.

Attendees of Freakstyle who donate 20 non-perishable food items or make a cash donation to the Flint Brain Food Drive will receive a limited edition Bassnectar Freakstyle 2019 lunchbox. An additional truck of food and water will also come to Flint, with donations taken from the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan in Flint.

Last month, Bassnectar announced he would fund a free online climate change course for high school students. The DJ/producer also used his nonprofit organisation, Be Interactive, and online behavioral health services portal BetterHelp to set up an initiative offering a free month of therapy to 1000 people.
