BLOOMS is a mind-bending 3D sculpture that runs on vinyl: watch

The BLOOMS series is a collection of 3D sculptures that run on a turntable designed by John Edmark, an artist and professor at design at Stanford University, that he unveiled in January 2015.

Now Edmark has revealed his BLOOMS 2 series, which expands on his mind-bending sculptures. You can watch them in action below.

Speaking about BLOOMS 2, Edmark told Design Boom, “Animation effect is achieved by progressive rotations of the golden ratio, phi (ϕ), the same ratio that nature employs to generate the spiral patterns we see in pinecones and sunflowers.”
