BURNING MAN PRESENTS ‘RADICAL RITUAL’ THEME FOR 2017

It's a unique journey...

Burning Man revealed its theme for 2017 will be ‘Radical Ritual’ yesterday (Tuesday 6th December), announcing the news in a statement in its journal. The event will take place from Sunday 27th August through Monday 4th September in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert.

According to the organisers, in 2017 they “will invite participants to create interactive rites, ritual processions, elaborate images, shrines, icons, temples, and visions.” The event has consistently been called a spiritual experience by attendees.

The organisers continue, “Our theme will occupy the ambiguous ground that lies between reverence and ridicule, faith and belief, the absurd and the stunningly sublime. This year we will erect a temple that will commemorate the Golden Spike. Circles surrounding circles will converge immediately beneath the Man.”

This year, Major Lazer performed at Burning Man for the second time. You can relive their Robot Heart camp set below.

Burning Man is now accepting art installation submissions. Click here for details.
