CASSIUS RELEASES 'ACTION' WITH CAT POWER & MIKE D

Legendary French outfit tease new album...

Legendary French duo Cassius are back with a brand-new single, ‘Action’, that features Cat Power and Mike D of Beastie Boys fame.

The duo, which consists of Boom Bass and Philippe Zdar, shot to fame in 1999 with the debut album ‘1999’, which is widely credited as kick-starting the French house revolution alongside luminaries Daft Punk and Etienne De Crecy in the late '90s.

Since then the duo have released two albums, 2002’s ‘Au Rêve’ and 2006’s ‘15 Again’, and a handful of singles including 2010’s breakout track, ‘I Love You So’.

As well as a string of well-received albums, Philippe Zdar has produced albums for the likes of The Phoenix, Beastie Boys and Chromeo.

Their next album, which is expected sometime this year via Ed Banger Records, has yet to be given a title  but the first track ‘Action’ is a certainly a statement of intent from the legendary duo.

‘Action’ is a heady fusion of disco, house, Afrobeat and pop hooks marking a return to the classic Cassius sound that sees Cat Power’s Chan Marshall and Beastie Boy’s Mike D trading verses over a slinky disco beat.

'Action' is out now via Ed Banger/ Polydor.
