Chicago DJs launch GoFundMe for Ron Hardy memorial gravestone

The Frankie Knuckles Foundation and the Chosen Few DJs have teamed up to honour house music pioneer

The Frankie Knuckles Foundation and the Chosen Few DJs have launched a GoFundMe campaign to get a proper gravestone for Ron Hardy.

Hardy, the house music pioneer known for his long tenure as a DJ at Chicago’s Music Box, died in 1992, and has been interred in an unmarked grave since. In 2017, Frankie Knuckles Foundation co-founder, the late Randy Crumpton, proposed the idea of raising funds to acquire a proper gravestone for Hardy. The idea was taken to DJs Wayne Williams, Alan King and Terry Hunter of Chosen Few Picnic and now,  three years later, the plan is being put in motion.

This Friday, 8th May, The Frankie Knuckles Foundation and the Chosen Few DJs will host a ten-hour live stream to celebrate what would have been Hardy’s 63rd birthday. Sets will come from the Chosen Few crew, as well as Ron’s nephew Bill Hardy, Celeste Alexander, Craig Loftis, Jamie 3:26 and Gene Hunt. The broadcast will come live from Le Nocturne Chicago from 12 pm to 10 pm CST and will be available to watch via Twitch, Facebook and YouTube
