Coachella ticket buyers’ user account details are being sold on the dark web

The addresses, usernames and passwords of 1 million festival goers are said to be on sale...

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival revealed a dance heavy programme including Martin Garrix, Dillon Francis, Tale of Us and more last month.

But the festival, which takes place from 14th to 16th and 21st to 23rd April at Empire Polo Field in Indio, California, is said to have been hit by scandal, as the account details of 1 million Coachella website users are reportedly being sold on the dark web.

According to Motherboard, a data trader under the vendor name Berkut are listing the sale of data including addresses, usernames and hashed passwords on the Tochka dark web marketplace.

The listing reportedly read, “Coachella complete database dump from this month.”

According to a sample of more than 10,000 accounts provided to Motherboard by Berkut, the data does not contain payment details.

The data was verified by attempting to create an account with the email addresses provided, with every email selected already being linked to an account.

DJ Mag have contacted Coachella for comment.
