Darude to headline 'Ultimate ‘90s Rave' festival

It will be the 'Sandstorm' producer's Scottish festival debut

Darude will headline 'The Ultimate 90s Rave' festival in Scotland.

The 'Sandstorm' producer's set at The Royal Highland Centre in Islington will be his first Scottish festival appearance.

Taking place on 4th April, the line-up for the 12 hour festival also includes Force & Style, Patrick Prins (Bits N Pieces Live), Judge Jules, DJ Quicksilver, D:Ream, Adamski, Dyewitness and Mauro Picotto.

Running from midday to midnight, the festival will be spread across five arenas and feature more than 70 artists playing 90s dance anthems, trance classics, oldskool and rave.

"Round up your crew, grab your glowsticks and get ready to take a trip back in time to the decade that defined a generation" say the festival's organisers.

Darude – real name Ville Virtanen – represented his home country of Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019.

Last year was the 20th anniversary of his inescapable anthem ‘Sandstorm’. In 2018 he released the track, ‘Surrender’, which saw him embarking on a tour of North America.

The producer’s work has become subject of countless memes and internet gags in recent years. Chin Stroke Research & Development launched a very real and very serious “project” to use the track as the alarm sound of an actual sandstorm detector. Below, you can watch him react to just some viral 'Sandstorm' covers.
