Dave Clarke urges artists with cancelled gigs to send money back to promoters

"It enables them to refund the fans and helps everyone survive to get through this very long hardship"

Dave Clarke has urged that artists with cancelled gigs should send their fees back to the promoters.

Taking to Twitter and Facebook to post the statements, the Brighton-born, Amsterdam-based techno DJ and producer, directed his message to artists that have recently suffered, or may be about to suffer, event cancellations.

"Those of you that are having gig cancellations please send the fees back to the promoters," he wrote. "It enables them to refund the fans and helps everyone survive to get through this very long hardship." He followed it up with another tweet shortly after, writing that "Those of you, who like some big corporations, that do not pay tax be aware that your selfishness also harms local health services."

The tweets come amid a series of cancellations of shows due to the ongoing fears surrounding the spread of novel coronavirus, or COVID-19.
