David Guetta on Forbes' rich list: "There is competition, but in a positive way"

Admits to rivalry with Calvin Harris...

David Guetta was transparent about his quest to be the world’s top earning DJ in a recent interview. The 50-year-old DJ admitted to a rivalry with reigning number one, Calvin Harris.

"Of course I pay attention to it," revealed Guetta when questioned about Forbes' annual World’s Highest-Paid DJs list. "We all do!"

"There is competition, but in a positive way," explained Guetta. "We’re all really good friends."

The admission, as reported by the Metro, came after the celebrity DJ/producer was awarded Best Electronic artist during the 2017 MTV EMA Awards. Guetta bested Harris, Major Lazer, Martin Garrix and The Chainsmokers.

Harris made approximately $23,500,000 ($US) more than Guetta over the last year.

Guetta did top Harris in the 2017 DJ Mag Top 100 DJ’s poll. Guetta landed at number 7 versus Harris’ appearance at 15. Each down one spot since 2016.

The Frenchman closed out the EMA’s by debuting his track ‘Dirty Sexy Money’ featuring French Montana, Afrojack and Charli XCX. The track is co-produced by Skrillex.
