Death Row Records to reissue classic albums from 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, more on cassette for 30th anniversary

The LA-based label was founded in 1992

Death Row Records will reissue classic albums from the likes of 2Pac and Snoop Dogg on cassette this year.

LA-based label Death Row Records, founded by Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, The D.O.C. and the late Dick Griffey, catapulted West Coast hip-hop in the spotlight throughout the early '90s, releasing some of the most iconic rap albums of all time.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Death Row Records, the label will reissue four classic albums via cassette from the imprint's back catalogue, including 2Pac's 1996 LP 'All Eyez On Me' and 'The Don Killuminati (7 Day Theory)’, recorded under 2Pac's Makaveli alias one month before his death.

As well as the 2Pac albums, Snoop Dogg's breakthrough album 'Doggystyle' will be available on tape, alongside Dr. Dre's 1992 debut album 'The Chronic'.

You can pre-order the tapes, which will be available next month, here.

The tape format has seen a boost in recent years. While cassette sales have steadily increased in the UK, 2020's final sales figures amounted to double those reported at the end of 2019, with 156,542 cassettes sold in the UK over the 12-month period of 2020. Albums from Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue and The Streets featured among the year's 10 best-selling cassette albums in the UK.

Last year, Snoop Dogg launched his own brand of gin, ‘INDOGGO'.
