DFA’S HEADQUARTERS ARE UP FOR SALE

On the market for $16 million...

The townhouse in New York City where DFA Records and its recording studios are based is up for sale.

The townhouse has been the label’s headquarters since 1999 and is the creative hub for the label and its roster.

Over the years artists including LCD Soundsystem, The Rapture and the Juan Maclean have all record albums there.

The property  which is on 225 West 13th Street  features three live rooms in the basement, parking for three cars and live/work space overlooking a patio. The top two floors feature living areas with a full kitchen, living room and a bedroom.

It's unclear where DFA is heading, but when RA reached out for comment they received an auto-response stating they're currently moving offices.

The news won’t come as a surprise for many as especially given the fact that New York record store Other Music has also been priced out of the village and is just over a mile away.

So if you want to own a piece of music history all you'll need is a cool $16 million.
