Diplo, Richie Hawtin, the Gorillaz and more announced for Sónar 2018

The Barcelona-based festival will be celebrating its 25th anniversary...

Sónar Festival has announced its first set of headliners for its 25th edition of the festival next year, with the likes of Bicep, Diplo, Richie Hawtin and the Gorillaz all confirmed to play.

Next year's festival will be its 25th anniversary and will be taking place from 14th - 16th June 2018, and will feature three days of music, art exhibitions, screenings and there will also be the three-day industry conference, too.

Last year's festival attracted 123,000 attendees from over 101 countries, cementing the festival's position as one of the world's most cosmopolitan.

Other artists confirmed to appear including Kode9, Helena Hauff, Black Coffee, Wiley and Bonobo to name but a few.

Earlier this month, the festival began beaming music into space as part of its 25th-anniversary celebrations.

The festival beamed music from 33 artists — some of whom will be playing at the festival next year — into space to see if it might peak the interest of some electronic music-loving aliens, sadly so far there hasn't been a response, that we know of.
