Diplo's travel guide to a life on the road

Diplo offers up some dos and don'ts...

In a recent interview with GQ, Diplo gave some advice to would-be touring DJs on how to survive a life on the road and in the air.

The biggest rookie mistake that any touring DJ can make according to Diplo is checking your bags in, "you never want to do that. Travel as lightly as possible. You don’t want to waste your time with girls. Girls are on the road are a waste of time."

The Major Lazer producer also avoids hotels with carpets, "I don’t like smoking at all. If the hotel room has carpet you can smell the smoke from back when it was OK to smoke inside of buildings. I have a really sensitive sense of smell — any smells I smell right away."

During his career, the DJ and producer reckons he's been on 5,000 flights and since he's always in the air he doesn't really suffer from jet lag anymore, "I just kind of work until I’m too tired to move. At this point, jetlag isn’t really a thing for me. It’s actually hard for me to go to sleep. Especially after a show, ya know? It’s hard to relax."

But he does admit if he does struggle to get to sleep he goes for a herbal solution, "If I have weed, I’ll smoke weed. That’s easy. But I’m not like Wiz Khalifa travelling with a bunch of weed on tour."

In other Diplo news, Diplo has uploaded a new version of ‘Bank Roll’ to his official Soundcloud after the original version featuring Justin Beiber mysteriously disappeared just days after its initial release
