Discover the history of UK sound system culture with Farah x Rampage crew's new mini-doc

Cult clothing brand Farah partnered with the legendary Rampage crew on their stage at Notting Hill Carnival over the weekend, to host a slew of special guests (including Mark Ronson, Tinie Tempah and Ms Dynamite) and create a special mini-documentary celebrating UK sound system culture.

The mini-doc — which you can watch in full below — traces the influence of sound systems in the UK, from the early years of Notting Hill Carnival to the massive impact the culture has had on the urban UK music landscape today. 

Contributors to the flick include the BBC’s Soul and R&B figurehead Trevor Nelson MBE, godfather of UK hip hop and Carnival veteran Rodney P, pioneer of the grime scene and Boy Better Know memberJammer, reggae and dancehall champion Toddla T who recently fronted 1xtra’s Jamaican tour, Tipper Irie from the iconic Saxon Studio International sound system, UK reggae and sound system legend Sweetie Ire and authority on black music in the UK, head of music at Westminster University and former member of Steel Pulse, Mykaell Riley.  The film is fronted by Treble T from Rampage Sound System.

For their Autumn / Winter 2017 campaign, Farah's designers drew inspiration from sound system culture to create a collection that pays homage to these pioneers of music and style. Designers drew influence from night-club posters, carnival sound systems and record sleeves to capture the vibrancy of life in Westbourne Park in 1975. Check the new Farah collection out here.
