Dizzee Rascal has been awarded an MBE.
London rapper Dizzee Rascal, who is set to release his seventh studio LP on the 30th October, will recieve an MBE as part of the Queen's Birthday Honours.
Dizzee Rascal released his first album, 'Boy In da Corner', in 2003. He won the 2003 Mercury Prize for his debut, and follow up albums including 'Showtime' and 'Maths + English' were certified platinum records. He has charted five UK number-one hits, including his collaborative track 'Dance wiv Me' alongside Scottish DJ/producer, Calvin Harris.
Elsewhere, Rap duo Krept and Konan were also awarded the British Empire Medal for services to music and the community in Croydon. It follows the announcement that BBC Three’s The Rap Game UK, featuring the duo alongside DJ Target, will return to the screen later this month.
