A DJ has died at a Port Alegre EDM festival after the stage collapsed due to adverse weather conditions, Resident Advisor has revealed.

Kalleby Freitas da Rosa (AKA DJ Kaleb), was DJing at Atmosphere Festival's O Santuario Stage on Sunday afternoon when a sustained period of heavy rain and gale-force conditions caused a huge metal structure to topple. Da Rosa suffered serious head injuries and was announced dead on arrival at a local hospital. Three others were injured in the incident, although the extent of their injuries is unclear at this stage.

It's also being reported that the festival organisers went ahead with the festival regardless of severe weather warnings that were put in place that morning, while terrifying fan-footage below shows the moment the stage came down.

Atmosphere Festival issued a statement via Facebook yesterday, which has been translated from the original in Portuguese.

" We always cherish the security of our audience, following all the processes, reports and authorisations requested by the local authorities. And to our audience we will keep them informed of all our actions to keep the truth about the facts that have occurred. Anyway, we're sorry, we lost a friend, an artist. Our priority is to assist the wounded and their families. We thank the military brigade and the fire department for all assistance."

Everyone at DJ Mag would like to send their deepest condolences to the family and friends of DJ Kaleb and everyone else impacted by this disaster.
