DUBFIRE & CARL COX IN FOR GLADE AT GLASTO

Deep Dish man will be performing his much-anticipated live show

The Glade area at Glastonbury has just announced its line-ups — and they’re huge!

Pulling out all the stops, they’ve secured one of the biggest DJs on the planet — Carl Cox — for a very special old skool classics set.

They’ve landed Dubfire, one half of the legendary Deep Dish duo, to perform his ‘Hybrid Live’ show.

And they’ve secured a special b2b session with local junglists Roni Size and DJ Krust, who will be playing Full Cycle classics past and present with the aid of regular cohort Dynamite MC.

The Glade started as a sound system in the wooded glade area at Glasto between the Other Stage and the Avalon folk fields in the late ‘90s. The area — and the acts that played amongst the trees — became so popular that it was spun out into its own festival in 2004, growing each year and running right up until 2012.

Along with these headliners, now with its own field in the same part of the vast Glasto site, there’s a wealth of other acts playing The Glade alongside the above headliners. The Glade is perhaps the most diverse dance area — and there are plenty — at Glasto, with A Guy Called Gerald, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, Vessels, Dub Pistols, Don Letts, Simon Shackleton, Plaid, Ozric Tentacles, Dreadzone, Cassetteboy vs DJ Rubbish and Stanton Warriors just some of those playing on the Glade Stage.

The Glade Lounge has people like Chris Hybrid, Dave Seaman, JFB and Tom Real spinning, plus Danny Howells and DJ Mag’s Carl Loben doing a special tribute to the late David Bowie on Saturday early evening.

The Spaceport venue nearby boasts Laura Jones, Ralph Lawson, Dave Beer, James Holroyd, Paranoid London, Adam F, Feral Is Kinky, Mafia Kiss, Marten Horger, Plump DJs, Richy Ahmed, Ben & Lex and Mini Da Minx, amongst tons more.

And The Spike venue has assorted steampunk bands, an Alabama 3 DJ set, A Guy Called Gerald doing an old skool hip-hop set, and lots more.

There’s also quirky shows such as Be One, improvised music over the buzz of a hive of bees, and the Function One Experimental Sound Field, the forerunner of which is where Underworld played their breakthrough gig in the early ‘90s at Glasto.

The Glade is just one area for dance fiends at Glastonbury. Others include Block9, home of the NYC Downlow; the six stages in the Silver Hayes area, with 2016 acts including Stormzy, Netsky, Eats Everything, Four Tet, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry and Bicep; The Common area, with Sub Focus, Coldcut and loads more acts; Shangri-La, the crazy night-time field of sideshows, systems and subversive artwork, and home of the Heaven and Hell stages...

Glastonbury really is one hell of a place to party and experience some of the world’s best electronic music acts. The DJ Mag crew can’t wait! Glastonbury takes place towards the end of June.
