Eastern Margins announces six-city South-East Asia tour
‘Road To Redline’ is set to explore regional club mutations in South-East Asia's burgeoning electronic music scene
Record label and collective Eastern Margins has announced a six-city South-East Asia tour to showcase its artists.
The ‘Road 2 Redline Tour’ is organised in collaboration with Archipelago Festival, the Jakarta-based initiative that focuses on emerging artists in Indonesia and South East Asia. It runs between 25th May and 4th June with stops in Jakarta, Bandung, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon.
Malaysia’s rising stars Shelhiel and rEmPiT g0dDe$$ kick off the tour in Kuala Lumpur on May 25th. On May 27th, PRONTAXAN will unleash their Funkot pyrotechnics from Yogyakarta.
The second weekend opens in Manila on 1st June, with obese.dogma777 bringing in a cast of Filipino talents including LONER, dot.jaime, and Teya Logos. On June 3rd, Puppy Ri0t, LARRIA., and obese.dogma777 play in Saison. Lumi & Ar join Eastern Margins artists on all of the tour dates.
The ‘Road 2 Redline’ city tour stops are recognised as the heartbeat of South-East Asia's burgeoning underground electronic music scene and are a key inspiration of Eastern Margins's signature “Redline” sound. Redline is described by the collective as being characterised by a Hi-NRG, DIY “why not” mentality. Check out the sounds in its 2021 compilation album ‘Redline Legends’.
The upcoming tour is set to explore regional club mutations, taking inspiration from the Funkot genre in Jakarta and Bandung, to Vinahey in Ho Chi Minh City, Budots in Manila, and beyond.
