EDM festivals and DJs share #SaveTheSummer statement encouraging fans to stay at home

The music scene continues to mobilise amid the coronavirus pandemic

EDM festivals and DJs have been sharing a #SaveTheSummer statement encouraging fans to stay at home to help combat the coronavirus pandemic, and raise the chances that some events scheduled for later in the year can go ahead.

Names such as Oliver Heldens, Sander van Doorn and Martin Garrix are throwing their social media followers behind the campaign, which emphasises the importance of following government and medical advice to combat transition and infection rates of the COVID-19 disease.

Major sacrifices — including social distancing and self-isolation — will ease the burden on health services across the world, which is crucial in order to save lives. It is also hoped that if the public take significant steps now things could return to normal for everyone sooner.

Since February festivals and club nights have been cancelling events and tearing up calendars as a result of the situation — with the latest high profile tickets to pull out of summer 2020 including UK behemoth Glastonbury. Meanwhile, in Panama, 3000 ravers are currently in lock-down at Tribal Gathering. Tomorrowland, which cancelled its Winter edition earlier this month, is among the organisations involved in #SaveTheSummer.
