Electric Zoo festival attendees from 2023 are finally set to receive refunds after enduring a chaotic event last Labor Day Weekend.

The New York-based electronic festival faced severe backlash after cancelling its first day due to alleged "global supply chain disruptions", delaying entry on the second day, and denying access to thousands on the final day due to overcrowding issues.

In the aftermath, lawsuits, including a class action suit, were filed against Electric Zoo, citing safety concerns and logistical nightmares. Attendees, like Nicole Brockmole and Lauren Bair, who were part of the class action suit, highlighted the frustration and disappointment of being denied entry despite having valid tickets.

"Electric Zoo 2023 was a nightmare endured by thousands of electronic music fans," stated the lawsuit, filed in September last year, citing the impact on those who traveled far and wide for the festival only to face significant barriers to entry and subpar conditions once inside.

Despite initial promises from organisers to issue refunds, including a public statement expressing regret and commitment to making amends, delays plagued the refund process, exacerbating attendee frustrations.

Now, Electric Zoo has announced via See Tickets that refunds will be issued to all remaining eligible ticketholders, with processing expected to be completed by 19th July. It comes after extensive pressure from the community and social media campaigns calling for transparency and accountability.

In a new social media post, festival organisers said: "We know those of you affected by the issues surrounding Electric Zoo 2023 have been eagerly awaiting a resolution. We also know it has been some time since our last communication and we sincerely apologize for the delay. You deserve answers, and we are now able to provide you with an update."

"See Tickets, the exclusive ticketing provider for Electric Zoo 2023, will begin issuing refunds to all remaining eligible ticket holders," they added. "Those who are eligible will be contacted directly via email with further instructions and can expect refunds to be processed by July 19, 2024."
