Eris Drew launches new vinyl label, Ecstatic Editions, with Ciel anthology release

Eric Drew has launched a new label, Ecstatic Editions, with a focus on releasing special vinyl editions as well as archival works.

The first release on the label is an anthology of work from Toronto-based DJ and producer, Ciel, featuring tracks from her catalogue that were previously only available in digital format.

Set for release on 5th May, 'Ecstatic Editions Vol. 1' features three tracks from Ciel's ‘The Trojan Horse’ EP, a track she contributed to the Naive label's ‘No Justice No Peace’ compilation, her remix of ‘Wena’ by Stockholm-based band Off the Meds, and a track by Psychedelic Budz – a collaboration project between Ciel and D. Tiffany.

The release also includes a track Ciel contributed to Montreal's Bass Coast Music Festival's annual digital-only compilation, ‘12 Days’, as well as a remix of ‘End Of This World Together’ by Toronto electronic duo LAL, and a remix for Japanese artist Cuushe, originally released via Tokyo's FLAU.

Eris Drew, who plays exclusively on vinyl, has cited her desire to have more of her favourite producer’s music on wax – due to changes in the industry, the cost of production, and wait times for manufacturing – as the reason for starting the label. Future releases on the label will include a vocal garage mix that Drew recorded to cassette in 1997, as well as 12" EPs from Ryan Clover and Ariel Me Llamo.
