Panasonic released their 50th anniversary Technics SL-1200 turntable yesterday — and no one even knew it was happening.
The entire first run, that was put on sale domestically in Japan and consisted of 300 units, was snapped up in less than 30 minutes, with the rest of the 1,200-unit run (see what they did there) still yet to go on sale.
No word yet when (or where?) the other 900 units will be available to buy, though the anniversary edition turntable has gone under fire for its exorbitant price tag — it's currently retailing at over 4000 USD.
