FKA Twigs confirms new techno-inspired album will be released this year
The London artist also confirmed Koreless and more "talented friends" will feature on the album, expected to land sometime this year
FKA Twigs shared details about her next album with fans on her Discord server last night.
The London artist said she was celebrating her birthday working on her next album in the studio with Koreless, posting a photo of him at the production desk. The follow-up to her 2022 mixtape 'CAPRISONGS' is more inspired by techno than ever: "I moved to Prague a couple summers ago, fell in love with techno", she posted. "The album isn’t techno but the spirit is there fr".
FKA Twigs confirmed that she's collaborated with "mainly" Koreless and other "talented friends" for the LP, "coming out this year", but it will likely be more of a solo album than previous releases. "'CAPRISONGS' was collab heavy", she wrote, "I don’t like to repeat myself". In terms of the overall feeling of the album, she told fans "it's deep but not sad" because "I'm not sad anymore".
FKA Twigs also shared with fans that she's been listening to a lot of UK duo Two Shell.
FKA Twigs' first gave a preview of her upcoming work with Koreless at Valentino's recent Paris Fashion Week show, where she premiered the 'Unearth Her' single as part of her performance. They previously collaborated on Koreless' 'White Picket Fence' video, which she directed in 2021.
Last week, FKA Twigs publicly criticised the UK's Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) "double standards" for banning her recent Calvin Klein advertisement. The ASA said she was "overly sexualised" in the image and it would "likely to cause serious offence". Meanwhile, The Bear star Jeremy Allen White's new, plainly provocative Calvin Klein campaign has not been commented on by the ASA.
Following the release of 'CAPRISONGS', FKA Twigs teamed up with Yung Lean on the 'Bliss' single.
