Floating Points locked for next ‘Late Night Tales’ compilation

Sam Shepherd gets involved with the acclaimed mix series...

Floating Points is locked for the next ‘Late Night Tales’ compilation.

The DJ and producer, AKA Sam Shepherd, will unveil his addition to the revered series next month, which spans global soul, ambient, jazz and folk.

"The music is a selection of the kind of records I play to set the tone when DJing all night long," he said of the idea behind the release. "I’ve learnt about a lot of incredible music from listening to 'Late Night Tales' over the years, so I jumped at the opportunity to compile one myself."

The 17-strong track list includes three exclusive cuts; 'Untitled, live in Portland' by Sarah Davachi, 'Toshimaru Nakamura's 'Nimb#59' and Floating Points' own 'The Sweet Time Suite, Part 1— Opening (Kenny Wheeler cover version)'. As usual for the series, this instalment ends with a spoken word piece, namely BBC 6 Music's Lauren Laverne reading Emily Brontë's 'Ah! Why, Because the Dazzling Sun'.

The album will arrive on 29th March— the same day the UK is scheduled to leave the EU should current Brexit plans go ahead, meaning we may all need some decent ear fodder as distraction.
