The latest album from Robert and Lyric Hood's project Floorplan is out now. Listen to 'The Master's Plan' below.

This is the fourth studio album from the Detroit techno originator and his daughter, an accomplished producer in her own right, coming in at 18 tracks via Luke Solomon’s label Classic Music Company. There are features from Honey Dijon and Detroit vocalists Earthtone, aka Robert Hood's wife and manager Eunice Hood, Lowell Pye and Dames Brown.

"This is an invitation to eternal salvation", Robert Hood said in a press statement about the album's themes. "At some point, this natural earthly body, the shell that we live in, is going to deteriorate. We’re going to pass away at some point, but we don’t have to; we don’t have to die. That’s what ‘Never Grow Old’ means. ‘The Master’s Plan’ is expanding on that precept that where we’re going, those who believe, are never going to grow old and will never die."

Floorplan previously released the 'The Curse Breaker / What You Need' single last September. As solo artists, Robert Hood recently remixed Roland Leesker's track 'Respect' and released the 'Alpha Key' EP on his own label M-Plant. In 2023, he teamed up with Femi Kuti to release the 'Variations' live album.  His influential 1994 album 'Minimal Nation' marked its 30th anniversary this past January — revisit Ben Cardew's feature on how it defined the minimal techno sound here.

Last year, Lyric released two solo EPs for M-Plant: 'Woman-Hood Chapter 2' and 'Breath & Britches'. She also spoke to DJ Holographic about spirituality and how it influences their work — read the conversation here. Dive into her digital crates in her 2021 Selections entry.
