FLUME USES ARIA AWARDS SPEECH TO SUPPORT KEEP SYDNEY OPEN CAMPAIGN

"Let the next generation have the same opportunities I had..."

Australian star Flume has been showing his support for the Keep Sydney Open campaign fighting lock-out laws in New South Wales.

Having won the Best Pop Release for 'Never Be Like You' and Best Independent Release for 'Skin', Flume used his acceptance speech to plead with Premier Mike Baird to keep Sydney's clubs open and was photographed wearing his Keep Sydney Open pin on the red carpet.

“I want to say a big thank you to the venues," he said, "especially the small venues and the small parties that are doing what they’re doing, because that’s where music evolves, that’s where all the exiting stuff happens, and that’s what’s getting shut down right now.”

After thunderous applause, Flume added “To our policy makers and our politicians: please Keep Sydney Open to let the next generation have the same opportunities I had.”

Meanwhile, following up the release of his celebrated second album 'Skin' in May, Flume has released a four-track companion EP of B-sides. Check out EP track 'Quirk', set to a cool video of Flume surfing, below.
