Four stabbed in Morden Park during Eastern Electrics festival

The incidents took place on Saturday

Four men were stabbed during Eastern Electrics festival at the weekend.

The South London festival, which took place on Saturday the 3rd and Sunday the 4th August, has been held at Morden Park since 2017.

On Saturday, four stabbings took place in the park during the afternoon and evening of the festival. Three of the victims, a 24 year-old stabbed shortly after 4pm, a 27-year old man stabbed just before 7pm, and a man in his twenties stabbed later in the evening were all taken to hospital. None of the men were reported to have life-threatening injuries.

The fourth victim, a man in his fourties, was found injured at around 10pm, with his condition currently unknown.

A Section 60, which gives the police the right to stop and search members of the public without suspicion, was enforced on the London Borough of Merton for the duration of Sunday.

Eastern Electrics issued the following statement regarding the incidents: “We can confirm that four serious assaults took place at Eastern Electrics on Saturday 3rd August. All casualties were transferred to hospital after being treated on-site by our medical team.

“The Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward and asking anyone with information that may help with their investigation to call 101.

“The safety of everyone on-site is our first priority and we will continue to work closely with the Police, local authorities and our security staff to ensure a safe and secure environment at Eastern Electrics.”
