Gang Starr announce first new music in 16 years

The single features J. Cole

A new single from Gang Starr has been released.

The hip-hop duo, originally comprised of DJ Premier and the late Guru, who passed away in 2010, released their last work as Gang Starr 16 years ago with 'The Ownerz', which charted at number five in the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

'Family and Loyalty' features unreleased vocals from Guru, alongside singer/songwriter J. Cole. Speaking on the track, Premiere said: “This record means so much to me. It’s a continuation of what I never wanted to end. It’s a very foreign place for me and very emotional. I get happy, sad, excited; my feelings are kind of all over the place.  But predominantely, just very happy to be making music with Guru again.”

Legendary New York hip-hop trio Beastie Boys will re-release 'Paul’s Boutique', 'Ill Communication', 'the Root Down' EP and 'To The 5 Boroughs' in various colours on 4th October.
