GLASTONBURY CONFIRMS ‘BIG EVENT’ AWAY FROM WORTHY FARM IN 2018 OR 2019

After months of talk that Glastonbury will host an event away from its current site, Emily Eavis confirmed the news on Twitter last night.

Addressing the rumours, Eavis said that Glastonbury are planning a “big event” in either 2018 or 2019. She didn’t reveal details of what that would be though. You can read the full tweet below.

In a post shortly after, Eavis went on to state that those behind the festival remain completely focused on this year's event, which they also revealed will honour David Bowie and Prince.

Speaking to the BBC, Eavis said The Pyramid Stage will be decorated with a giant lightning bolt, in tribute to the sleeve for Bowie’s ‘Aladdin Sane’. The Park Stage will also see a performance of Philip Glass’ ‘Symphony No 4’, which was based on Bowie’s ‘Heroes’.

There aren’t any solid details of the Prince tribute as yet, but Eavis said plans are currently “taking shape”.

Glastonbury also announced the full dance village line-up last week, which sees Maceo Plex, Four Tet and Eats Everything take to the stage in Worthy Farm alongside those already revealed in March on the poster below.
