GOOGLE REPORTEDLY CONSIDERING SOUNDCLOUD PURCHASE FOR $500 MILLION

Google is rumoured to be interested in buying SoundCloud, a new article from Music Business Worldwide claims.

Sources report the tech giant could purchase the streaming platform for around $500 million, a significant reduction since Spotify pulled out of negotiations last year due to a $1 billion pricetag.

Having aquired SoundCloud's latest financial data, MBW also explains that all three major labels stand to make money if the deal goes ahead as each holds shares in the company. 

Universal apparently owns the most at two percent, with Sony at three percent and Warner between one percent and two percent, which would result in a payout of around $45 million in total between them.
