GRiZ comes out as gay in inspiring op-ed piece

A great way to kick off LGBT Pride Month...

GRiZ, the Detroit DJ and producer, opened up about his sexuality earlier this week, in an inspiring and candid op-ed published by the Huffington Post.

In the op-ed, titled 'My Name is GRiZ and...', the bass-leaning DJ detailed the struggles and realities of growing up as a gay man.

“I found myself laying in bed late every night depressed, stressing, losing sleep, praying to God. Why me? Is something wrong? Am I gay? There was so much pressure to fit in, I tried to force myself to be like everyone else," said GRiZ.

As LGBT Pride Month kicks off, GRiZ is set to become an inspiring role model for young people coming to terms with their sexuality.

The LGBTQ community has always had a place in dance music, even from its earliest roots.
