Hakuna Kulala announces debut album from Don Zilla and Elvin Brandhi as Villaelvin
MCs Hakim and Swordman also appear on the Ugandan imprint's first vinyl LP
Hakuna Kulala has announced the debut album from Don Zilla and Elvin Brandhi,'Headroof', with the pair releasing under the shared moniker Villaelvin.
The LP marks the first full length vinyl and digital release on the Nyege Nyege Tapes imprint, and is due to drop on 7th February. Those looking to bag a physical version will need to act fast, though — just 300 wax copies have been pressed.
The contents were produced in Kampala, Uganda, during April 2019, when Brandhi joined Zilla and several other heads from the label collective in 'the villa', namesake address for the crew's new mixtape series. MCs Hakim and Swordman make appearances, with Congolese producer Oise also involved.
Last year Nyege Nyege Tapes released a compilation exploring the history of Ugandan Electronic Acholi dance music, with more recent outings including a 180BPM EP from Julien Hairon, AKA Judgitzu.
