Hardwell to return from hiatus to close Ultra Miami mainstage 2022
A report by Billboard suggests the Dutch DJ is back after a four-year break
Hardwell is set to return from hiatus by closing Ultra Miami 2022, according to a report by Billboard.
Four years on from announcing a break from touring and producing, the Dutch DJ - real name Robbert van de Corput - is reportedly set to close the three-day festival as the "special guest" in the "final main stage slot at 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 27." Both Hardwell's manager and Ultra's spokesperson have refused to comment on the rumour.
The report also cites sources, who claim the producer "will debut new music at this year’s festival, and that his new sound is a departure - or evolution - from his previous, commercially focused work." It also states that van De Corput was in talks with Ultra about "making his comeback, with new music," at the 2020 edition of the festival, before its cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ultra Miami Festival (UMF) takes place at Bayfront Park across 25-27th March, and will feature sets by David Guetta, Tiësto, Alesso, Martin Garrix, Kygo, Armin van Buuren and many more.
The latest reports of Hardwell's return come five months after he teased a return to the live circuit with a surprise appearance at ADE in Amsterdam during his own Revealed Recordings showcase. In September last year, fans at a small party with Ran-D also spotted Hardwell on stage, igniting rumours of an impending comeback.
Last year, Hardwell's long-standing radio show, Hardwell On Air, wound up after ten years of broadcasts and 500 shows, with a new Revealed Recordings 24/7 YouTube livestream launched as a replacement. The same month he also released a retrospective compilation of his best work, 'The Story of Hardwell'.
