Hyperdub to release debut Mana album, 'Seven Steps Behind': Listen

It follows on from the producer's first EP for the label, released last year...

Hyperdub has announced its next release of 2019, a debut album from producer Mana.

The album, titled 'Seven Steps Behind', comes around six months on from the producer's first EP with the label. Hyperdub's press release describes the record as "an electronic album that doesn't always sound electronic," adding that large parts of the record have been created to mimic the sound of "prepared pianos, harpsichords, cellos and flutes."

Below, you can watch a video for lead track 'Solo'. The clip takes inspiration from '70s Italian animated series La Linea, as well as from Mana's upbringing in Turin.

The 12-track album is out on 5th April.

Last year, Hyperdub label boss Kode9 collaborated with Burial on the last in Fabriclive's 100-part mix CD series. He also installed a 40,000-watt soundsystem in the Tate Modern's Turbine Hall as part of an exhibition.
