An intimate new club is set to open in Glasgow, 500 GWR

Formerly known as Viper, the venue is getting The Arches’ old Funktion-One system...

Glasgow is getting a brand new clubbing venue named 500 GWR, set to open its doors in February this year.

Previously a popular student spot named Viper, the refurbished venue sits in Glasgow's West End at 500 Great Western Road.

The newly renovated space has been fitted with a Funktion-One system (that used to be installed in The Arches), and will encourage a no-camera dancefloor.

It promises to be “safe, small, dark, with rich sound and lighting production”, while the music policy will be ‘House, Techno, Disco & more’, the club has said.

The Scottish city is in need of a great new nightlife spot, since the sad demise of much-loved spaces like The Arches, Saint Judes and Chambre 69.

Recently, it was reported that Sub Club, Glasgow’s leading nightclub, was under threat as a result of a planned Wetherspoon hotel development nearby.

The new venue is set to open on February 1st 2019. Find tickets to the launch event here.
