JEFF MILLS TO PLAY RESIDENCY AT LONDON’S BARBICAN IN 2017

The Detroit legend will play a four-date stint of multi-arts performances…

Jeff Mills is to hold a four-date residency called ‘From Here To There’ at London’s Barbican Centre, which will run between Thursday 8th and Monday 12th June 2017.

The Detroit techno legend will play four nights in five days, which all starts with a performance called ‘Life To Death And Back’ at the Milton Court Concert Hall on 8th June, which sees three dancers depict the 12 stages of reincarnation, choreographed by Michel Abdoul, with a film accompaniment and live electronic score by Mills.

The second night (Friday 9th June) will host a screening of Richard Fleischer’s 1966 sci-fi epic ‘Fantastic Voyage’, with an “electronic cine-mix” provided by Mills. On Saturday 10th June, the Detroit don’s ‘Light From The Outside World’ show will return to the Barbican, after he first performed it at the venue in October 2015, re-working music from his back catalogue for symphony orchestra.

The final night (12th June) brings the UK premiere of ‘Planets’ at the Barbican Hall, where Mills, inspired by Gustav Holst’s ‘The Planets’, takes attendees through our solar system in a score for orchestra and electronics.

You can get more information and tickets from the Barbican website, as well as listening to Jeff Mills’ classic BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix from 1998 below.
