Juan Atkins reveals first-ever Cybotron live show

The Godfather of Techno will debut the legendary project in London...

Juan Atkins will debut pioneering electro project, Cybotron, live in London's next year.

The Godfather of Techno will premiere the Detroit band's music live at the Barbican Centre on April 12th. The event will kickstart the Cybotron Live tour, before stopping off in Berlin, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Paris, New York City, Sydney, Tokyo and elsewhere, between 2019 to 2021. Full details are to be confirmed.

The press release for the new show reads: "In collaboration with visual technologists Pilot, Cybotron’s live show explores the relationship between music and technology. Pioneering a revolutionary digital lighting and laser control system, multiple layers of audio are fed through a bespoke multi-sensory system as Cybotron play seminal tracks from their back catalogue composed some 40 years ago, as well as pieces from their forthcoming album."

it continues: "Based on the principles of their futuristic and innovative debut album Enter, this bespoke visual generative engine takes the ‘The Cybotron Principle’ - designed to show that a computer can be as good, if not better than a person when collaborating with music - to the next level. In compositions such as ‘Techno City’, ‘Clear’ and ‘Cosmic Cars’, this live electronic experiment demonstrates a proven synergy between audio and visual technologies."

Atkins - who has also performed as Model 500 and Infiniti over the years - left Cybotron due to artistic differences with bandmate Rick Davis in 1985. Davis continued to release music as Cybotron in the early-to-mid 1990s.

Last month, Tresor Records reissued Infiniti's 1998 LP 'Skynet'.

Last year, Atkins and Orlando Voorn revived their Frequency vs Atkins project for 'Beyond The Beyond'.

Tickets for Cybotron's London show are priced at £35 and can be purchased here.
