Kelly Lee Owens announces new album, ‘Inner Song’, on Smalltown Supersound

It's preceded by lead single, 'Melt!'

Kelly Lee Owens has shared full details of her second album.

Titled 'Inner Song', it sees the London-based DJ and producer return to Smalltown Supersound, the Oslo-based label which released her 2017 self-titled debut album. In the interim years, Owens has been busy touring as well as remixing the likes of Björk and St. Vincent, and collaborating with Jon Hopkins.

'Inner Song' sees Owens delivering an unconventional cover of a Radiohead track as well as teaming up with Welsh artist and founding member of The Velvet Underground, John Cale. The album also features more conventionally techno material, particularly in the lead track, 'Melt!', which you can watch a video for below.

"I wanted to create something that sounded hard but with organic samples," Owens says of the track. "I felt those were great representations of what's happening in the world, that every moment you're breathing and sleeping, this is taking place."

The album itself, Owens says, came out of "the hardest three years of my life... my creative life and everything I'd worked for up to that point was deeply impacted. I wasn't sure if I could make anything anymore, and it took quite a lot of courage to get to a point where I could create again."

Smalltown Supersound will release 'Inner Song' on May 1st.
